Mountain Valley Players present Over Here Over There

Hot Springs, Va. –
Bath County’s Mountain Valley Players are gearing up for their fall performance. It is an encore presentation of Over Here Over There. Keene Byrd is in the show. He plays the part of the newscaster and he’s part of the show’s USO chorus.

“Well it was very popular,” says Byrd. “The first time that we did it we had a good response to it and we’re hoping that people will respond again. It’s a good old fashioned feel good type of play. It’s basically a musical built around the Second World War and we sure hope everybody will come out and support it. It’s a major support for the military service people, with emphasis on the Second World War.”

The Mountain Valley Players is a community theatre group in Bath County. Byrd has acted in a number of the group’s performances and he says this show has been fun to put together.

“Costumes, the people, the music,” says Byrd. “It’s an awful lot of things. We start singing some of those songs like an old USO performance, like they used to entertain the troops with. I think you’ll get in the spirit of things and pick up the spirit right away. The whole thing’s a lot of fun.”

Over Here Over There was written by Margo Oxendine. It’s directed by Terry Kershner and the music director is Kathy Crutchfield.

“We’ve been practicing since June and July,” says Byrd. “A lot of practices going over the music, remembering the lines and of course the acts and so forth that you’ll get to see. But we figure that’s all worth it once that curtain goes up and the show officially begins.”

Over Here Over There a musical tribute to World War II will be performed Saturday November 10 at 2pm and 7pm and again on Sunday November 11 at 2pm at the Bath County High School Auditorium. Admission is $7 per person.
