News Nugget – Pre-Trial Hearing For Highland Murder Case

A pre-trial hearing was held at the Highland County courthouse  Tuesday, for a Highland youth charged with several felonies, including 1st degree murder, use of a firearm, felony, 1st offense, and two charges of obtaining credit cards. During the motion to suppress hearing, a defense motion to exclude evidence seized and obtained at the Richmond International Airport was denied, as well as a motion to exclude search warrants at the same location. A motion to exclude statements made by the defendant to airport personnel was partially granted. The defense also made a motion for change of venue for the case – final decision on that has been deferred until a hearing on September 12th.  The case is currently scheduled to go to trial in Highland September 25th – 27th.
