Only the Best Vendors Selected for Maple Festival

Monterey, VA – For some, the Maple Festival is all about the syrup, the donuts, the maple barbeque and all the other treats for the tastebuds. But for others, it’s all about the shopping. Dozens of vendors can be found in front of the Courthouse in Monterey, at the school gyms, and inside and outside the Stonewall Ruritan building in McDowell.

This year, a number of vendors can also be found on North Water Street in Monterey.
Vendors at the festival go through a rigorous jurying process, and many are turned away. But the result is an impressive selection of items that keeps many people coming back to the festival again and again.

Highland County Chamber of Commerce Director Carolyn Pohowsky was able to spare a few minutes during the hectic days before for the festival to talk about what it takes to become a Maple Festival vendor or exhibitor, and what people can expect to see this year.
