Pay Rates Set for Two New Hires in SWA Office
A short Pocahontas County Special Solid Waste Authority meeting was held on Tuesday, September 15th, with Chairman Gail Siers, members Nancy Harris and Phillip Cobb in attendance while Member Darrell Roach attended by phone. Member David Henderson was not in attendance.
There was a motion made to pay the newly hired Office Secretary -Johnathan Paul – $17.00 per hour plus benefits. That motion passed on a 3 votes, with an abstention by member Phillip Cobb.
There was a motion made to pay newly hired Administrative Secretary – Holly Taylor- $27.50 per hour. That motion passed on a 3 to 1 vote, with Siers, Roach and Harris voting for it, and Cobb voting against it. The decisions to hire those new employees had already been made at an earlier special meeting last week, so this meeting was strictly to set their pay rate.
The Landfill Manager, Chris McComb, also commented at the meeting that the members should expect to hear shortly that he will be presenting 5 new employees at the landfill for their consideration and approval.
The members also agreed to our request that they will resume notifying the press about future meetings and special meetings, not just to post them on the courthouse door.
