PCHS Boys advance to section championship game

Summersville, W.Va. – The Region 3 Section 1 #1 seed PCHS boys soccer team defeated Greater Beckley Christian in a 6-0 shutout last night on the artificial turf at Nicholas County High School. PCHS senior forward Tyler Davis scored three goals, and one of those was on a penalty kick. Senior midfielder Parker White and sophomore forwards Cary Robertson and Phillip Green each scored one goal for the Warriors. The win sends PCHS back to Nicholas County on Friday to face Class AA Nicholas County in the Section 1 championship. PCHS defeated the Grizzlies 6-1 and 8-4 during the regular season, and the Warriors love the artificial turf. If PCHS wins on Friday, they will advance to the WV Class A/AA Region 3 championship on Tuesday at Nicholas County and will face the section 2 champion, most likely either Pikeview or Bluefield. The Region 3 girls championship match will also be held on Friday night at the Nicholas County High School football/soccer field.

The Beckley YMCA Soccer Fields staff should decide by 2 PM today if the PCHS girls and Midland Trail Section 1 championship match will be played tonight at 6 PM at the YMCA Paul Cline Stadium in Beckley or on Friday at Summersville, Nicholas County, and share the spotlight with the boys match.
