PCHS girls soccer advances to regional championship

Summersville, W.Va. – The Lady Warriors soccer team has advanced to the regional championship game for the first time in three years.

Pocahontas dominated the Midland Trail Lady Patriots last night in a rain delayed sectional championship match in Beckley. Seniors Samantha Walton and Olivia Workman led the Lady Warriors with two goals each and junior goalie Lorena Rose made critical blocks all evening to secure the 4-0 shut-out. A coach’s committee named Walton, Workman and Rose to the all-tournament team.

The Lady Warriors play Pikeview Tuesday night in the Region 3 championship game at Summersville at 7 PM.

#6 ranked Class AA Pikeview beat PCHS 1-0 at Dunmore earlier this season. Coach Kathy White reports the Lady Warriors will be ready for an upset on Tuesday.

The PCHS boys play in thier sectional championship game tonight in Summersville vs Nicholas County at the Nicholas County football field. Gametime is 7 p.m.
