PCHS Lady Warriors Win First Round Playoff Game

Dunmore, WV – The Pocahontas County Lady Warriors won a decisive 73-43 victory over the young, but talented Vallley-Fayette Greyhounds on Monday night. PCHS senior Chloe Bland led all scorers with 30 points and fellow senior Miranda McNabb added 17 for Pocahontas. Freshman Tristin Day connected for 10 Warrior points, including two three-pointers.
Valley-Fayette junior standout Alexis Payne, who averaged close to 30 points in the last four games, was held to 19 points by the Pocahontas dfense. Freshman sensation Abby Buchan added 17 for the Greyhounds.
The Lady Warriors will play Midland Trail in the sectional final on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Pocahontas High school. The PCHS Girls improved to 19-4, overall. Midland Trail is 9-12 overall and defeated Richwood Monday night, 46-38, to earn the trip to Dunmore.
The Pocahontas Warriors boys basketball team play valley-Fayette in a first-round sectional playoff contest on Tuesday, February 28, 7 p.m. at Pocahontas High. The Pocahontas boys have won six in a row, have two regular season games remaining, and sport an 11-9 overall record. Valley-Fayette is currently 7-12, with two regular games remaining.

Heather is our Program Director and Traffic Manager. She started with Allegheny Mountain Radio as a volunteer deejay. She then joined the AMR staff in February of 2007. Heather grew up in the Richmond, Virginia, area and now lives in Arbovale, West Virginia with her husband Chuck. Heather is a wonderful flute player, and choir director for Arbovale UMC. You can hear Heather along with Chuck on Tuesday nights from 6 to 8pm as they host two hours of jazz on Something Different.
