Pocahontas Baseball Wins Sectional Championship

Dunmore, West Virginia – The Pocahontas Warriors are the 2012 West Virginia Class A Region 3 Section 1 baseball champions. The scrappy Warriors defeated rival Richwood 11-2 on Saturday, May 12 to seize the sectional crown. Brandon Hamons pitched a complete game for the win.

The Warriors will play Valley-Fayette in Smithers in a one-game regional championship during the week of May 21. The Greyhounds have a 23-8 overall record and defeated PCHS in the regional championship game last year. The Warriors are 15-10 overall, the best record in school history.

Heather grew up in the Richmond, Virginia, area and now lives in Arbovale, West Virginia with her husband Chuck. Heather is a wonderful flute player, and choir director for Arbovale UMC.
