Pocahontas BOE Meeting – April 7h, Closed to Public -But Remotely Available

The April 7th Pocahontas County Board of Education will go on at 6 p.m. but, because of the Governor’s virus lockdown. There will be an audio link on the BOE’s website, and an audio link via Zoom Meeting. The address for the BOE Website is:

The agenda for this meeting includes normal opening procedures, followed by the Superintendent’s Report and special recognitions.

This will be followed by routine financial reports, approval of grants and payments.

In the miscellaneous portion of the meeting, the board will consider approval of the following:

  • Grow Appalachia to utilize a sixty (60) foot by one-hundred-and-twenty (120) foot strip of land in the BOE property in Green Bank as a community garden site.
  •  A consulting agreement with Learn Design Apply, Inc. for two thousand dollars ($2000) to complete a federal grant application for an intercom/communication system for all five schools and the Central Office including 911 capabilities.
  • A proposed personnel action list for both professional and service personnel.

Prior to adjourning, the board members will conduct a Matters of the Board discussion.

Tim is the WVMR News Reporter. Tim is a native of Maryland who started coming to Pocahontas County in the 1970’s as a caver. He bought land on Droop Mountain off Jacox Road in 1976 and built a small house there in the early 80’s. While still working in Maryland, Tim spent much time at his place which is located on the Friars Hole Cave Preserve. Retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland, Tim finally took the plunge and moved from Maryland to his real home on Droop Mountain. He began working as the Pocahontas County Reporter for Allegheny Mountain Radio in January of 2015.
