Pocahontas CVB wants your nominations for Tourism Person of the Year

Cara Rose, Executive Director of the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau is inviting nominations for their 2nd annual “Tourism Person of the Year” Award. The person winning the award will be announced at the annual tourism Partners Luncheon during National Travel & Tourism Week in May. The winner will be selected by a committee made up of Bureau Board members, selected citizens and members of the Chamber of Commerce.

“Pocahontas County is so fortunate to have many people who work so hard in the Tourism Industry,” said Cara, “and last year the Convention and Visitors Bureau made the decision to begin honoring one individual who positively impacts a visitor’s experience or the industry as a whole.”

Cara said that anyone can make an application for a person they believe enhances Pocahontas County’s image as a great tourism destination.

“Anybody who has a person in mind who could be nominated is welcome to submit a nomination on behalf of that person,” said Cara. “If there is somebody you know who is a wonderful waitress, provides terrific service; it could be a Superintendant at a State Park who has improved or made the experience at that park better. It could be a business person who runs a bed and breakfast or cabins and they provide exceptional service.”

Applications for Tourism Person of the year can be picked up at the Bureau’s office in Marlinton, or they can be mailed or emailed to you if you call the office at 304-799-4636 or 800-336-7009. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2015.
