The July 2 meeting of the Highland County Board of Supervisors was handled expeditiously, with all votes being unanimous and very little discussion.

Join the fun July 15-19! Ages 4 to 11 are welcome. The theme this year is Seekers in Sneakers, and festivities and fellowship will begin each evening at 5 p.m. with dinner provided.

Those interested in learning to quilt will have the opportunity to learn from Shellie Gum during a 3-day workshop that begins on July 18. This is a part of a full summer workshop series provided at The 3rd Space.

The entire project is a joint endeavor between the Highland Children’s House, The Highland County Arts Council, Valley Program for Aging Services, and the Highland Historical Society.

Emery Grimes was also elected by the members as the new President of the Board of Education

Helmick said the commissioners will still need to run all of this by the County Prosecutor to ensure that the commission can legally do this, and for her to draw up the agreement so that it is legally sound.

The whole day of July 6 is packed with fun, and multiple food vendors will be on site so bring your appetite. Gates open at 9:00am and general admission is $15 with 10 years and younger free. Admission is for the whole day and is all inclusive.

To close out the year, the board voted that the budget surplus of $285,286.88 be placed into the school’s capital account for future projects.
