Service After Service: John and Noelle Corley’s Mission for Veterans in the Allegheny Highlands
Over the years, I’ve been blessed to interview a lot of people doing amazing work, but every so often I sit across from somebody and you can tell it isn’t a job or a project—it’s a vocation a life’s calling. That’s what it was like talking with retired military veterans John and Noelle Corley. In retirement, they didn’t look for the easy lane. They looked for the lane that gives something back.
They’ve launched the Alleghany Highlands Veterans Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit built around helping veterans heal and reconnect through outdoor adventure, hands-on skills, and wellness support rooted in mindfulness. Their work includes the Healing Waters Inn (Formerly the The Kings Victorian Inn: a veteran-focused B&B and day spa experience with services like massage, acupuncture, saunas, float therapy, and more), Falling Water Farm (an outdoor and wilderness “adventure playground” with everything from hiking, fishing, and camping to archery, axe throwing, sporting clays, blacksmithing, and carpentry/woodcraft), plus community-building programs like Coffee & Camaraderie, Hearts & Hands (veterans mentoring youth through service), and Capture Courage—using photography as a lens of hope and healing.
They’re based right here in Hot Springs at 8883 Sam Snead Highway; our full interview is linked below. This is important veterans work happening in our own backyard. Keep an eye out—because what they’re building is worthy of support.
