Sheets GMC Gets Possible Reprieve

Green Bank, WV – Last year, Sheets GMC in Green Bank got one of those dreaded closing letters. But now, it appears that GMC may be reconsidering that decision. Charlie Sheets, owner of the Green Bank dealership, says GMC recently talked about the possibility of reinstating some dealership contracts.

He says the company doesn’t have the time, money or manpower to arbitrate the 1100 cases from franchises across the country. Therefore he says GM will offer the return of more than 600 franchises if dealerships still want them.

Sheets says he got a call from GMC later that afternoon, indicating he would get a letter. But he’s not sure whether or not he wants to sign another contract with the company.

He says he’s waiting to get the letter and see what the requirements will be before signing on the dotted line.

According to the Charleston Gazette, about half of the states’ 61 GMC dealerships got those letters last May. Of those, 23, including Sheets, sought arbitration to keep their franchises. Two other WV dealers in Huntington and Clarksburg may also get reinstatement letters.
