Shopping and Survival

Why does a day at the mall feel like therapy for some and a tactical operation for others?

In this segment on Allegheny Mountain Radio, I share a light-hearted story about shopping with my wife, Renee — but it’s more than just a funny look at our different styles. We’ll explore how ancient survival roles might still be influencing our modern-day behavior.

With insights from evolutionary psychology and voices like Dr. Daniel Kruger and Dr. Gad Saad, we examine how shopping habits — the way we browse, compare, and choose — could be echoes of the hunter-gatherer divide. It’s a story about biology, behavior, and maybe even a little empathy.
