Site Plan Received for Family Dollar Store in Monterey – Highland County Planning Commission
This is part two of coverage of the Highland County Planning Commission’s March meeting. At the meeting, the Planning Commission, the Board of Supervisors and the Monterey Town Council all voted unanimously to approve the county’s Solar Energy Systems Ordinance. No one spoke during the public hearing.
A public hearing was set for the April 22nd meeting on a conditional use permit for a storage building construction business to be located at 5875 Potomac River Road. The applicant is Andrew Yoder and the landowner is Delmar Vandevender. Yoder is planning to build a 60 by 96 foot building, in which to construct storage buildings to sell. Completed buildings for sale will also be displayed at the location. The Planning Commission will request a site plan be submitted before the public hearing.
Zoning Administrator Josh Simmons reported he had received a site plan for review for a Family Dollar store on Main Street in Monterey at the location of the Montvallee Motel. The plan calls for the motel and house there to be torn down. Simmons said he doesn’t know who owns the land and a building permit has not been applied for.
