Skyline Turbine Providing Residential Wind Turbine On Highland County Farm

Charlottesville, VA – Highland County is known as a windy place, which is one reason the only commercial wind farm in Virginia has been sited there. However, Highland County’s wind resources also provide potential benefits for those interested in small wind turbine systems. Recently, the Bennett Farm near Doe Hill has gained county approval for construction of a 60 foot monopole and wind turbine. Jeremy Hayes of Skyline Turbine is the contractor for this job. In this story he describes the system he designed for the Bennetts.

Heather is our Program Director and Traffic Manager. She started with Allegheny Mountain Radio as a volunteer deejay. She then joined the AMR staff in February of 2007. Heather grew up in the Richmond, Virginia, area and now lives in Arbovale, West Virginia with her husband Chuck. Heather is a wonderful flute player, and choir director for Arbovale UMC. You can hear Heather along with Chuck on Tuesday nights from 6 to 8pm as they host two hours of jazz on Something Different.
