Snowshoe Foundation 2025 Scholarship and Grant Application Is Open

The Snowshoe Foundation is pleased to announce that their 2025 Scholarship and Grant Application cycles are officially open! The application window is open until Friday, March 14th.  Eligible students and organizations in Pocahontas, Randolph, and Webster counties can apply for scholarship or grant funding opportunities from the Snowshoe Foundation.

For students, scholarships of up to $3000.00 are available for higher education or career/technical training.  The program is open to high school seniors, returning undergraduates, and career/technical students.  The funds may be used for tuition, books, housing, computers and more.

To be eligible for the scholarships, students must be a resident of West Virginia, specifically, from Pocahontas, Randolph or Webster counties.  They must be a high school senior, returning undergraduate or planning to enroll in a career or technical training program, and college, career training, specialized training and VOTEC training all qualify.  You must reapply every year for the scholarship.  Each applicant must submit the following items to be considered:

  • Completed application form
  • EFC Score from FAFSA (not the entire form, just the page with the EFC score)
  • Two letters of recommendation from your choice of high school teachers, administrators, counselors, employers, or individuals with significant knowledge of your experience and involvement. They must be currently signed letters.
  • An official and recent high school or college transcript with cumulative grade point average
  • An ACT scorecard, official SAT scorecard or the WIN Career Readiness scorecard

If you are enrolled in a non-traditional curriculum or trade school, you only need to submit item 1 and 3.

Students should submit a completed application and supporting documents as a complete PDF to info@snowshoefoundation.org. Website submissions are strongly encouraged.  Or you may mail the application to Snowshoe Foundation, Inc. Attention:Scholarships 10 Snowshoe Drive, Snowshoe, WV 26209. If you are concerned that you may not qualify, you may contact the foundation at 304-572-8500 or info@snowshoefoundation.org. Scholarship winners will be notified in early May of 2025.

The Snowshoe Foundation also offers grants  for organizations in the three-county area.  They are available for nonprofit and school-affiliated organizations, and individuals with community-impact projects.  The funds can be used for purchases of goods and services, including but not limited to construction, repairs, equipment, supplies and programs.  All grants must benefit the residents of Pocahontas, Randolph or Webster counties.

The minimum grant available is $10,000.00 and the maximum is $25,000.00.  Organizations are asked to submit the following along with their application:

  • A copy of the most recent Audited Financial Statement. If that is not available, please explain and attach a copy of the most recent 990 form.  Please note that if you have the 990 postcard, please attach a copy of the postcard and a completed Fiscal Year Financial Statement.
  • A list of the names, titles and city or town of residence for the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer and any other key personnel or volunteers involved in the project.

As with the scholarships, the grant application window closes on March 14th, 2025 at 5pm.  Grants will be awarded in May of 2025.

The Snowshoe Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing financial support to children, families and local community-based organizations whose activities benefit the communities of Pocahontas, Randolph and Webster Counties.  Funding for the Foundation comes through events such as the annual Foundation golf tournament and the Treasure on the Mountain Raffle, as well as through private donations.

Heather is our Program Director and Traffic Manager. She started with Allegheny Mountain Radio as a volunteer deejay. She then joined the AMR staff in February of 2007. Heather grew up in the Richmond, Virginia, area and now lives in Arbovale, West Virginia with her husband Chuck. Heather is a wonderful flute player, and choir director for Arbovale UMC. You can hear Heather along with Chuck on Tuesday nights from 6 to 8pm as they host two hours of jazz on Something Different.
