Snowshoe Mountain Resort Delays Opening

Snowshoe, WV – The anticipated rope drop signaling the start of the 2010-2011 winter season at Snowshoe Mountain Resort did not happen as planned on November 24th. Mother Nature has been less than cooperative this year in providing significant snowfall. The resort has seen some light snow, but not the consistently cold temperatures they need to keep the giant snowguns going at full capacity.

Nevertheless, they will have some activities for visitors who like to make the resort their traditional Thanksgiving holiday destination. The indoor-outdoor pool will be open, along with the Big Top entertainment center, and retail and dining outlets. The Junction Restaurant will serve up a traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday.

Colder temperatures are expected to move into the area and with that snowmaking may resume. A new opening date will be announced as soon as conditions permit.
