Special Primary Election Results August 28

Marlinton, WV – Turnout in Pocahontas County was very low ranging from only 18 votes cast in Cass to 93 votes cast in Green Bank. Most precincts reported numbers in the low 30’s to mid 50’s. 820 ballots were cast out of 4,756 registered voters for Pocahontas County.

Here is the breakdown of the results after all 15 precincts reported in – final results will be certified after the election canvas Tuesday, August 31st.

As of midnight, with 1823 of 1875 total West Virginia precincts reporting, it appears Governor Joe Manchin,businessman John Raese, and Mountain Party Candidate Jesse Johnson will face off in November to determine who will permanently fill the unexpired term of the late Senator Robert C. Byrd. Carte Goodwin is temporarily filling that role in the US Senate, but is expected to step down once the November election results are certified.

Heather is our Program Director and Traffic Manager. She started with Allegheny Mountain Radio as a volunteer deejay. She then joined the AMR staff in February of 2007. Heather grew up in the Richmond, Virginia, area and now lives in Arbovale, West Virginia with her husband Chuck. Heather is a wonderful flute player, and choir director for Arbovale UMC. You can hear Heather along with Chuck on Tuesday nights from 6 to 8pm as they host two hours of jazz on Something Different.
