Summary of what we’ve covered so far with our Basic Breathwork!

“Yoga” means “union.” The goal of a yoga practice is to bring the body and mind into greater connection with each other. We have many ways of accomplishing this union, but we’ve started by exploring the breath first.

Pranayama is the yogic practice of breath control. In sanskrit, “prana” means energy (or life force) and “yama” implies restriction or control. The ancient yogis realized that the breath was directly and inextricably linked to our energy level, the experience of our life force. Pranayama is changing the way you breathe to affect energy.
