Spring Events in Pocahontas County

As we move forward into spring, we asked Chelsea Faulknier, Director of the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau to tell our listeners about upcoming events.

“At the Pocahontas County Convention and visitors Bureau we are excited to see spring weather back and all of the exciting activities and events coming up on the calendar as spring arrives,” said Faulknier.

“We’ve got our ‘Make it Shine’ road clean-up campaign taking place currently. It will run through May 19th, so we encourage folks who are out traveling on our county roads just to use caution as our volunteers are out cleaning up our roadways.”

“We’re also excited to invite everyone to our 2025 Annual Convention and Visitors Bureau Tourism Summit. We will be hosting that at the Pocahontas County Opera House on Thursday, May 22nd. We’re excited to announce some changes to the Tourism Summit. We’ve got a Networking hour that will take place from 10am to 11 am, for stakeholders (and) industry partners to come together (and) have a chance to collaborate and do some networking. And then, our summit will kick off at 11 am. We’ll hear from our marketing agency – Digital Relativity- talk about social media marketing efforts, and we’ll also hear from the Snowshoe Highlands Area Recreational Collaborative and the work they’ve been doing over the last year, and I’m super excited to announce our Keynote speakers: David Landis with VBT Trails and Travis Olson with Mountain Rides. They will be sharing more on the exciting partnership between the Mon Forest Towns launching Mon Forest Towns Gravels. This is an initiative that will highlight backpacking and gravel cycling routes through the Monongahela National Forest, connecting all of the 12 Mon Forest Towns through different bike-packing loops, which will include one large, multi-mile epic loop that will include stops in all of the 12 towns. So, yeah, we hope everyone can join us at the Opera House on May 22nd from 10 till 2 for the annual Tourism summit. You can RSVP for that summit by calling our office at 304-799-4636.”
