Sue Hirsch Named As Bath County Schools Superintendent

Warm Springs, VA – Bath County has a new school Superintendent. Sue Hirsch was appointed Monday night by the Bath County School Board for a term beginning July 1, 2010. The contract runs through June 2014.

Hirsch, currently serving as the Director of Instruction and Personnel for Bath County schools, took over as Interim Superintendent May 1st, 2010. Current Superintendent Dr. David Smith left the school system April 30th for a new job as Superintendent for Prince Edward County schools.

Also on Monday night the school board adopted an amended budget, restoring some jobs it cut and making changes to the budget it adopted on March 18th. The computer lab manager position at Valley Elementary was restored. Aides were restored to a 200 day contract. The guidance secretary position at the high school was also restored. The assistant principal position at the high school was restored to a ten and a half month contract. The school board also changed tuition payments for dual enrollment classes. Students will now pay the tuition and will be reimbursed at 50% for a passing grade of C or above.
