Sunday Morning Crash On Bartow Hill

Bartow, WV – A female driver was traveling south on Route 92 about 9:45 a.m last Sunday, when she ran off the roadway coming across the crest of Bartow Hill. The vehicle traveled downhill along a private drive and struck a telephone pole. Bartow-Frank-Durbin Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and extricated the driver from the vehicle. The driver was transported to Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins with non-life-threatening injuries.

B-F-D fire chief Buster Varner said the unidentified driver was a Snowshoe employee, enroute to the resort. Officers from the Pocahontas County Sheriffs’ Department and the West Virginia State Police responded to the scene.

Deputy B.L. Kelly with the Sheriff’s Department says he is investigating the cause of the accident.

“I’ve got a single-vehicle, signal 6,” he said. “The investigation is ongoing, here in Bartow.”

Q: Was there anybody hurt?

“Yes we had one,” he said. “She was transported to Davis Memorial. “

Q: Any idea what caused the accident?

“No, not right now,” he said. “Not right off. I haven’t talked to her, yet. She’s at Davis Memorial.”
