The Mountain Valley Players Present Death by Golf

Warm Springs, Va – Bath County’s community theatre group, The Mountain Valley Players, is presenting its spring show this weekend. It’s called Death by Golf and Keene Byrd is playing the character of Grandpa in the show.

“It’s a hilarious comedy, kind of a mystery comedy,” says Byrd. “It’s got a few little surprises in it. I really think people are going to have a great time.”

Death by Golf is directed by Terry Kershner. In addition to Byrd, the show stars Margo Oxendine, Graham Kershner and Rachel Camacho. Characters include an escaped convict, an anxious bride, a scheming husband, an attorney and Grandpa. The audience is in for a treat with this Mountain Valley Players production.

“Now one of the things that are happening for the first time, we’ve gotten a professional stage or scene developer that’s come in,” says Byrd. “Jackie Robinson, she’s done this before. She’s gone to a lot of trouble to do the set design. I think people will really find it very, very interesting.”

Death by Golf will be performed at the Bath County High School Auditorium on Friday May 18 at 7pm. And on Saturday May 19th at 2pm and 7pm. And again on Sunday May 20 at 2pm. Admission is $7 per person.

“Well I’m an old ham, as you probably know, and I enjoy doing this sort of thing,” says Byrd. “I did it back in college and it was a long time before I did it again I’ve really gotten back into it and Mountain Players has provided a lot of opportunity not only for young people, for everybody in the neighborhood, in the community as well. This is a real meaty role. As someone said, This thing was made perfectly for you.’ So I’m having a lot of fun performing Grandpa.”
