Virginia State Parks Online Reservation System Unavailable During Software Transition

According to a press release from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Virginia state parks online reservation system will undergo a transition period.

Virginia State Parks will transition to a new online reservation system on January 27 at 7:00 a.m.   Prior to the launch of the new site, online reservations for campgrounds, cabins and picnic shelters will be unavailable from January 24 through January 26.

Web and call center reservations will be unavailable beginning January 23 at 11:59pm until January 27 at 7am, as the transition is made to the new reservation software provider.

Existing reservations will remain intact within the new system and will be migrated over during the transition period. Customer loyalty points will be converted and loaded into the reservation database.

Visit www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/reservations for additional details about the new reservation system and for the most current status updates during the transition period.

Overnight accommodations and picnic shelters in Virginia State Parks are available for reservations up to 11 months in advance. Campsites may be reserved up until 2 p.m. on the date of arrival. Cabin reservations should be made before midnight on the day prior to arrival. Same-day cabin reservations may be available, but can be handled only by phone. Reservations are always recommended.

You can reserve online, 24 hours a day. There, you’ll find information about the park and sites, as well as park policies.  You must pay in full by credit card when reserving online.

You can also make reservations through the free RA Camping app found in the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app allows users to make reservations and makes it easy to post and share photos from your phone.  You must pay in full by credit card when booking through the app.

You can also make reservations by phone.  Call 800-933-7275, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
