Wampler Eanes Appraisal Group Hard At Work On Assessment

Warm Springs, VA – Work is progressing on the reassessment in Bath County. Wampler Eanes Appraisal Group is doing the work and they’re about half way done visiting properties. Gary Eanes is the owner of Wampler Eanes Appraisal Group.

He says the real estate market has corrected itself a bit, but the second home market, recreational properties is strong. He says there are areas that range from no growth to small growth, while others are surprisingly high.

The bad winter weather slowed their work down, but it didn’t affect the overall time line. Eanes says they are probably a little ahead of schedule at this point in Bath County, in addition to working on reassessments in several other Virginia locations too.

If you’re not at home when a Wampler Eanes representative visits your property, you’ll find a yellow card from them. You may be asked to call them to provide more information.

“Our contract says that we will make an attempt to go to the house” says Eanes.

“If it’s a house that we feel we have enough information on it based on our exterior inspection, we mark the card that we have enough so they would not need to call.”

Wampler Eanes is hoping to have notices mailed out in November. This reassessment will go on the books January 1.

Virginia requires that all property be assessed at 100% of market value, which is the price it could sell for. Bath County is required by the state to do a reassessment every 6 years, but the county can choose to have them done more frequently. This reassessment has to be completed to meet the 6 year requirement.
