Warriors And Charges Lose Close Games In Their Games Of The Football Season

Franklin, WV and Swoope, VA – On Friday night, the Pocahontas County Warriors and the Bath County Chargers took to the road for both teams third game of the year.

The Pocahontas Warriors jumped out quickly against Pendleton County dominating the first half of play and taking a 17-6 lead into halftime. The second half, however, would be all Pendleton County Wildcats as Wildcats QB Tyler Gardner took control of the game scoring five touchdowns on the night. The Warriors would fall to the Wildcats 31-23. Senior RB Jesse Hoke scored three touchdowns for Pocahontas.

The Bath County Chargers traveled to Swoope to face Buffalo Gap. Both defenses played superbly and offensive points were hard to come by. Down 13-7 late in the second half, the Chargers were able to punch it into the end zone. A missed extra point left the Chargers unable to take the lead. Buffalo Gap would score the go ahead touchdown with under a minute to go and would hold off the Chargers in the final 30 seconds after an interception by the Bison. Buffalo Gap defeated Bath County 19-13.

Both the Warriors and Chargers fell to 1-2 on the year. Pocahontas plays their first home game of the year against East Hardy on Friday night. Bath hosts AA Allegheny also on Friday night.
