West Virginia Legislators Announce $46,550 Grant For Marlinton Fire Dept

Marlinton, WV – WV Senators Jay Rockefeller and Robert C. Byrd, along with Congressman Nick Rahall have announced that the Marlinton Fire Dept will receive $46,550.00 in federal funding. The grant money is part of the 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. Funds from the program are used for updating operations, safety equipment and vehicle acquisition.

It’s one of 38 grants awarded in West Virginia, totaling almost 2.3 million dollars. According to the AFG website, Marlinton requested the funds for personal protective equipment.

The Franklin Volunteer Fire Dept in Pendleton county will also receive funding. They requested 22,000.00 for equipment and almost 11,000.00 for personal protective equipment.
