More than 40 people turned out at Hillsboro Library on April 22 to hear updates on water resources in Pocahontas County. Topics included algae blooms on the Greenbrier River, legislation to regulate Marcellus shale gas drilling and the development of a county-wide water resource management plan.

Two Bath County High School students made history at the Family Career and Community Leaders of America State Leadership and Recognition Conference in Virginia Beach recently. Monja Robertson and Chase Smith won the food innovations category, the first winners in the new category in state FCCLA history.
